Benefits Analyst

Job Description

Position Summary:   

The Benefits Analyst is responsible for interpreting Summaries of Benefits and Coverage (SBCs) and any client-specific benefit information provided to accurately complete the department’s Project Requirements Document (PRD), and benefit book templates. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Work with the Project Manager to understand the changes needed or the collateral to be created for the client. 
  • Obtain all necessary background information and materials and ask relevant questions to enable project completion. 
  • Effectively interpret SBCs, SPDs, benefits summaries and marketing spreadsheets and ensure the information is accurately transferred to or annotated in the PRD and other benefit templates.  
  • Review all work for consistency, accuracy, and wholeness. 
  • Ensure edits consistently follow our Higginbotham standard for benefits information.  
  • Promptly inform Project Manager and Content Writer when information is ready for next step or when information needs to be clarified or provided.  
  • Comply with organization and usage of content library. 
  • Balance a workload of several competing assignments with quick turnaround times. 
  • Proactively identify opportunities and work with team to improve processes.

  • Stay up-to-date with changes in benefits regulations, industry trends, and best practices to ensure our communication efforts remain compliant and competitive. 
  • Computer skills and tools, including Microsoft Office, Asana, and Monday.com. 
  • Team player with positive approach. 
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written. 
  • Commitment to continuous learning. 

 Experience and Education: 

  • Minimum of three years of experience in health insurance.  
  • General lines insurance license preferred. 
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.  

 Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time. 
  • Repeated use of sight to read documents and computer screens. 
  • Repeated use of hearing and speech to communicate on telephone and in person. 
  • Repetitive hand movements, such as working on keyboard and writing.

Systems: 

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Applied Epic experience preferred, but knowledge of similar Agency Management System (AMS) is acceptable

Physical Requirements:
